First Dentist Appointment

Graham had his first encounter with the dentist on the 17th of Feb. yes, i am a wee bit behind but i totally forgot. i've actually totally forgotten to blog about a lot of things. oops.

anyway.

back to the subject.

we decided to go ahead and take graham to see the dentist even though we knew there wasn't anything that could be done right now but we just wanted him to get used to being there. he did really good and i think he actually liked it. and he did NOT get that from me. i hate being at the dentist cause i know that it's gonna cost me a lot of money. my husband says my mouth is worth more than our vehicles combined. wonderful.

dr. marks gave graham a good report and said that his teeth looked great BUT he will probably have to have braces in the future because his mouth is so small...and that is because his head is so small. and his teeth be crammed in there and crooked...and that is already happening with his bottom teeth. poor kid is getting his canines in and they are pushing his four bottom front teeth all kinds of together and every which way since there isn't a whole lot of room for them. poor kid. lol.

I better start a savings fund just for braces because I am sure that in 12 years, they will be even more expensive. but what do i know?

18 months old

he had chocolate all over his mouth. a had just introduced him to his first Thin Mint.

our lil boy turned 18 months old on the 5th of March.

I can't believe he is almost 2 years old. I know everyone says this...and so will i...but where did the time go??

Graham's stats:

Weight - 28.8 and 80%

Height - 33.5 inches and 97%

Head - 18 7/8 and in the 50%

Dr. M said we could take him off of whole milk and give him 2% now since he no longer needs all of the fat that's in the whole milk. chad refuses to stop the whole milk though...so we are butting heads on that issue.

Dr. M also said that graham is going to be tall like his daddy! YAY!!!

His appt went well. he only had to have one shot and it didn't bother him what so ever. he didn't even flinch. but i guess that really is nothing compared to the surgery that he just had the week before.

He is at such a fun age and every day he impresses us with his knowledge of things and how fast he is learning.

Here are some of the latest happenings:

  • he is so good at following directions.

  • has so many words in his vocabulary. he is ALWAYS talking...as long as Dora or Diego isn't on the TV. he LOVES them. and will completely ignore you while they are on.

  • he has been watching basketball with daddy. so now when he plays with his big basketball goal, he bends his knees to throw the ball.

  • everytime i sit on the floor indian style, he will walk backwards to sit in my lap. i love it.

  • on the 8th of march, he said "i love you" to me. it was when i picked him up from school and was buckling him up.

  • on the 10th of march, he got in his high chair all by himself. we were amazed. we have been teaching him to go to his chair when he is hungry. usually he will stand there until we pick him up and put him in it. so one day after school/work, i told him to go to his chair if he's hungry...well, i ran back to use the bathroom real quick before i fed him and the next thing i knew, he had climbed up the barstool and into his chair.

  • knows all of his body parts...hair, ears, mouth, tongue, teeth, cheek, chin, nose, fingers, toes, "privates", arm, legs, elbow.

  • he is wearing 24 month/2T clothes

  • wearing size 7 in shoes

  • size 5 in diapers

march madness...and i'm not talking basketball

it's already been one heck of a busy month so far.

chad had outpatient surgery to have his tonsils removed on Tuesday, March 2nd. we were in and out of there in an hour. It was like a drive thru tonsillectomy. they sure did cause a lot of pain in the short 15 minutes that it took for the actual surgery. Chad was off of work for two weeks. he went back yesterday but is home again today and not feeling well at all. guess he just did too much at work. :( poor guy. he has been in a lot of pain but we are slowly but surely getting back to good.

Graham had his surgery the same week as Chad's. on thursday, march 4th Mimi and I took him to St. Vincent's for his outpatient surgery. He had to have his circumcision redone since my OB left too much skin. You can certainly tell the difference between having a surgery at a clinic versus a hospital. they wanted us there at 530am. so we were there at 530. we already did the pre-admissions so we sat there and waited and waited and waited. the surgery wasn't on the dr's schedule til 730am. but at 730am, they were ready to take him back.

in the waiting room...waiting to go backin his gown...doesn't that color blue look fab on him?? or is it green??

thank goodness they gave his a coloring book and crayons. had i known we were going to be waiting so long, i would have brought our own but I thought it was going to be a lot like chad's surgery...in and out...nope...not the case at all.

this is when his sedative started kicking in...he was really loopy.

yep, happy as can be...ready to go to sleepy land...

after the surgery. he was none too thrilled. he ripped his IV out after surgery and blood went gushing EVERYWHERE. I was holding him so it was all over me...and i don't like blood. i was afraid i was going to lose my breakfast.

all better now that he's at home and in bed with daddy.

Graham's surgery went really well and his recovery has been wonderful. he never acted like it bothered him...only when i would clean it and apply neosporin did he flinch. He's such a trooper!!
